Adaptive Riding Program
“The essential joy of being with horses is that it brings us in contact with the rare elements of grace, beauty, spirit, and freedom.” – Sharon Ralls Lemon
In this program we focus the teaching on well rounded horsemanship. All potential Instructors are CHA (Certified Horsemanship Association) Certified and all of our youth programs center around the levels of that program. The levels are constructed around care, handling, knowledge and riding. While learning through the levels, students are taught the value of independence, responsibility, and safety, in a fun and safe environment. They learn self control, self confidence, respect and skills they can take into any aspect of their lives, including school and grades. At VAF we encourage friendships and safe environments where everyone can be themselves, and feel accepted for who they are, and who they want to be. Our goal is to help every student develop life long relationships while they learn.
As the head Instructor, I (Jaci) have my Level 4 English and Level 4 Western (also called the Master Level) with CHA. I obtained my levels over the course of two evaluation clinics in Oregon in 2014 and Texas in 2018. In 2023 I returned for a third clinic, to secure my Adaptive Riding certification (Riders with Disabilities) in Washington and am certified to teach both Physical and Cognitive Disabilities. At this time our facility is set up to teach mild Physical challenges and Mild to Moderate Cognitive challenges.
Please print, fill out and bring a Liability form with you. Helmets are required on ALL participants 17 & Under. If you are 18 and Over, and in the Adaptive Riding Program, Helmets are REQUIRED.

Lesson Types
We teach all 4 seasons! At our facility we rarely do camps. Instead we do Seasonal Punch Card Specials. We also do random scheduled lessons, weekly lessons, every other week, once a month, and basically whatever fits your budget.
We provide Lessons of various types to suit most needs.
Private Lessons - 1 Hour ($45) - 1 on 1 lesson, private instruction. Can be on a school horse or a student owned horse. Private lessons are required prior to joining a group, unless you have reference to being able to walk, trot, post the trot and demonstrate safety in numbers.
Dual/Semi-Private Lesson - 1 Hour ($80) -. A dual or Semi-Private lesson is a lesson with 2 students and 1 instructor. These can be on a school horses or a student owned horses. This can be both Adaptive Riders or a sibling/parent lesson. It's always more fun with a friend!
Youth Lessons Ages 3-7 - 20-30 Minutes ($20-30)/45 Minutes ($40) 1 on 1 lesson, private instruction. Usually done on a school horse unless the students horse is proven to be a safe mount to learn on.
Group Pre-scheduled Sessions - 1 Hour ($30 per person) - These lessons are 3-4 Riders/Handlers. We will be doing 10 week sessions in the Spring, Summer and Fall.
