2023 Camps!
We offer Camps for Ages 5+ with a variety of different options.
Ages 5-10: 1/2 Day Camps with a lot of riding, games and crafts!
Ages 10-13: 3/4 Day Camps with a lot of riding, games, education, and real life experience.
Ages 14-17: Full Day Camps with a lot of riding, extra skills, some games, education and real life experience with horses.
Ages 18+: Full Day Weekend Camps!
Mental Health Camp: 1/2 Day Camps with lots of riding, grooming and lower expectations. The goal of this camp is to learn but also to learn about how horses can be beneficial to our mental health and stress. How to utilize horses to calm our life and quiet our mind. This is not a camp that has counseling or mental health therapies. This is a camp that offers an environment that can be beneficial to those who are struggling with anxiety, depression, stress, or other mental health struggles. It is not meant to replace or include therapies/counseling.
Physical Limitation Camp: 1/2 Day Camps with the same great benefits as the other camps, but modified, with extra helpers, to work with physical limitations. This is also great for kids with Autism, ADHD, Down Syndrome, Cerebral Palsy etc... We don't view limitations as a ceiling for ability. We view them as a passable challenge with the right modifications. This is not a physical therapy camp. This is a learning/education camp, that has been modified to give kids the chance to participate with and enjoy horses!
Spring and Winter Breaks are the exception on length of camps each day due to limited time frame.
AGES: Please utilize Ages as a suggestion, not a hard/fast rule. You know your child. If you feel they are not capable at age 5/6 to do a half day camp, please reach out and we can schedule some lessons instead, that may be more fitting for their attention span.
FOOD: Please pack a reusable water bottle and a sack lunch. We do have a fridge AND a microwave available, but please pack things your child can do on their own. Please avoid packing excess sugar/sweets. Extra hyper kids do not learn as well, and do not benefit with the horses as well!
CLOTHING: Long pants/leggings, Smooth soled boots with a 1/2" minimum heel. Please pack clothing that can be easily moved in. Thick/heavy coats and clothing can be restrictive. In the colder months, gloves with grip work fantastic, and layers under their coat/pants. Please put hair in a low or loose hairstyle to accommodate for helmet wearing.
What do we do in camp?
We Ride of course! But we also learn how to water, clean, feed, and take care of horses. We learn about horses, tack, and care, but we also learn how to catch, halter, groom, saddle and handle the horses. Depending on time of year we might be indoor, outdoor or even on our Obstacle Course if the riders levels and weather permit. We have wonderful horses as teachers, who have been doing this job for collectively over 20+ Years. I am a master certified level Instructor, and am also pursuing another certification in PATH (Equine Assisted Riding). I have been teaching for 21 years, and have been a 4-H leader for over 15 years collectively. Learning, safety and fun are the number one goals, the rest is a bonus. No previous horse experience is necessary!
